The side byte on the haptic output reports was inverted: 1 is the right pad and 2 is the left, not the reverse. Both the click pulse and the movement tick went out through the same helper, so both landed on the wrong actuator. This survived since the haptics went in because it is imperceptible with one thumb down — an LRA firing in the opposite grip still reads as "the controller ticked" and gets attributed to the finger that is moving. It takes a second contact point to localise. The values are now named constants carrying the confirmed mapping so an inversion cannot slip back in silently.
