* perf(artifacts): run the asset catalog and Interface Builder bundle walks together
inspect_asset_catalog walked the app bundle for Assets.car files and then
walked it again for the Interface Builder graph that supplies resource
keys. The analyses are independent, so start the Interface Builder one
first and let a catalog failure cancel it and win, as the sequential
order did. Keynote 4.20 s -> 2.89 s with identical output.

* test(artifacts): hold asset catalog and Interface Builder work open to pin overlap
Keep the Interface Builder stub pending until catalog inspection starts,
and keep catalog inspection pending while asserting an early Interface
Builder failure has not escaped.

* fix(build): emit no runtime imports for type-only bindings
Under verbatimModuleSyntax, an import whose specifiers all carry inline
`type` modifiers compiles to `import {} from "..."`, a side-effect import
that still resolves and evaluates the module. 78 compiled modules carried
one, including `import {} from "playwright-core"` in the browser scenario
session, which loaded Playwright's module graph at MCP startup.
Use top-level `import type` for these bindings and enable oxlint's
typescript/no-import-type-side-effects rule so the pattern cannot return.

* perf(mcp): load Playwright when a scenario launches, not at startup
The browser scenario and Electron active providers are constructed before
the stdio server serves, and both bound Playwright's launchers at module
load. Resolve `chromium` and `_electron` from playwright-core when a
capture opens instead, as the web module resolver already does.
MCP startup now resolves 1,312 modules (4,902 resolutions) instead of
1,598 (6,076) before reading the first request, and no longer loads
playwright-core. Provider construction, the tool catalog, and capability
inventory are unchanged.
A boundary test spawns the stdio server, initializes, lists tools, and
asserts playwright-core and isomorphic-git were not resolved; the CLI
probe now exercises the real launch path to prove detection.

The PE resource reader treated each section as covering
`max(VirtualSize, SizeOfRawData)` bytes, the mapping #1596 removed from
managed RVA reads. A resource payload in the raw alignment padding past
VirtualSize was reported with a hash of bytes the image loader never maps.
A later section whose virtual range starts inside that padding was refused
as an overlapping mapping.
Containment and overlap now use the loader's virtual extent: VirtualSize,
or SizeOfRawData when VirtualSize is zero. Ranges must still be file-backed.

Edits to `release.yml` or `real-ghidra-windows.yml` selected only the
workflow lane, so the shards holding releaseWorkflow, releaseCheckpoint
and realGhidraWindowsWorkflow tests were skipped. Actionlint checks
syntax only, so a PR could drop the package-before-publish gate, the
registry canary or the default-branch-only self-hosted runner restriction
without CI noticing.
Conformance fixture sources under tests/ set only the code lane, so the
conformance-fixtures and reconstruction-readiness jobs, the only callers
of `verify:fixtures` and `verify:readiness`, never ran for them. Route
the directories that build-conformance-fixtures.mjs compiles to both
lanes, and readiness applications to the readiness lane.
Both were raised by the Codex review of #1660 after it merged.

`import electron from "electron"` bound the module with a leading `default`
export segment, so `electron.ipcMain.handle(...)`, `new
electron.BrowserWindow(...)` and destructuring from that binding matched no
Electron API. Electron's CommonJS exports define no `default` member, so the
segment can only denote the module object; drop it when classifying
Electron bindings.
The binding classifier already recorded optional-call roots, but the IPC,
context-bridge, utility-process and sender-validation visitors accepted only
plain calls. `ipcMain?.handle(...)`, `contextBridge?.exposeInMainWorld(...)`
and the common `event.senderFrame?.url.startsWith(...)` check were dropped
without a limitation.

inspect_binary_layout accepts the same optional detail input as
analyze_javascript_application. The default complete delivery is
unchanged; detail "summary" retains the complete layout Evidence in the
session and returns its inspect_analysis_view summary, whose
parent_evidence_id selects sections, symbols, mitigations or linkage
later. Both tools share one detail schema and output projection.

analyze_javascript_application returns the complete application graph
inline, which repeats tens of kilobytes even for a few source lines and
exceeds the default 10 MiB MCP frame for a 300-function source file.
The new optional detail input keeps complete delivery by default. With
detail "summary" the server records the complete analysis Evidence in
the session and returns its inspect_analysis_view summary, whose
parent_evidence_id lets callers page modules, select items, or pass the
retained reference to application workflows. A server without Evidence
retention refuses summary detail with capability_unavailable rather
than returning a summary whose analysis cannot be reached.

Hosts forward every tool's input schema to the model on each request.
Seventeen tools advertised a canonical example that embedded a complete
producer Evidence record, up to 22 KB each, accounting for 116 KB of the
450 KB of advertised input schemas.
Advertised examples now show an embedded Evidence record as its exact
retained-evidence reference when the canonical input accepts one, and
omit an example that can only carry inline Evidence. Canonical contract
examples, their executable tests, and validation are unchanged.

Inventory gave nested members a ZIP or ASAR family from their path
suffix. Byte classification replaced it only for ZIP magic, so text named
`.apk` or `.asar` stayed a container, and encrypted entries and symlinks
kept the suffix guess. A filesystem `.asar` without an ASAR header failed
the whole inventory as a malformed archive.
Nested ZIP families now follow ZIP magic and ASAR follows its header
pickle, shared with root classification. An unread member named like a
container has an unknown format and a limitation naming the suffix. ASAR
expansion requires the header.
The Android projection adds a limitation when no root AndroidManifest.xml
was observed, and its rejection names the observed root format.

After #1542 the longest event-loop blocks on large bundles were single AST
traversals inside one analyzer: member-mutation collection with its
fixpoint, static source analysis, and function fingerprints, each about
one second on Obsidian's 3.7 MB app.js.
- traverseJavaScriptAstSteps yields every 1,024 visited nodes with the
same visit order; traverseJavaScriptAst drains it, so every existing
caller is unchanged.
- Member mutations, static analysis and fingerprints run as steps. The
member-mutation fixpoint yields every 64 references, and fingerprints
yield between callables.
- The now-unused synchronous member-mutation and fingerprint wrappers are
removed.
Graph IDs and complete result digests match main on three inputs,
including obsidian.asar. Over two runs there, the longest block falls
from about 920 ms to 740 ms, the second from 860 to 595 ms, and blocks
over 250 ms from 27 to 18, with total time within 1.5%.

* fix(javascript): yield inside semantic analysis and large projection passes
After #1525 the longest event-loop blocks were single stages on very large
files: semantic analysis of Obsidian's 3.7 MB app.js ran 5.8 s in one piece,
and its object projection 1.8 s.
- analyzeParsedJavaScriptSemanticsSteps yields between the analysis phases
and between the eight derived collectors; the synchronous function drains
it, so results are unchanged.
- Per-file analysis yields between open-receiver classification and static
analysis and drives the semantic steps.
- Semantic node creation, definitions and references, and the object and
frontier passes yield every 64 items. Node creation keeps source order,
which the per-file node budget depends on.
On obsidian.asar the longest block falls from 5,355 ms to 907 ms with the
same total time (40.6 s to 39.5 s). Graph IDs and complete result digests
match main on five inputs. Remaining blocks up to about 0.9 s are single
AST traversal passes inside the analyzers.

`inspect_plist` turned a missing selected plist, a directory, or a file
that is not a property list into a generic execution failure that
advised retrying and running `rea doctor`. A bare Mach-O without
Contents/Info.plist failed the same way.
Check the resolved path before running plutil and keep plutil's decode
diagnostic. A caller-selected path now fails as invalid input naming
the path and the reason; a missing default Info.plist is unavailable for
the target. The CLI no longer sends Contents/Info.plist as an explicit
selection, so its default matches the MCP default.

Static endpoint extraction treated any `.open(_, "literal")` call as
`XMLHttpRequest.open(method, url)`. In application and web bundle
analysis, `fs.open("/tmp/data.txt", "r")` became the network endpoint
`r` and `window.open(url, "_blank")` became the endpoint `_blank`.
Read the URL only when the first argument is a literal HTTP method: a
standard method in any case, or an uppercase extension token such as
WebDAV `PROPFIND`.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Static application analysis read call arguments only from quoted string
literals. A template literal without substitutions denotes the same
exact string, yet `fetch(`https://x`)`, `localStorage.setItem(`k`)`,
`new Worker(`./w.js`)`, and `require(`./dep.js`)` produced no endpoint,
an unnamed storage node, or an unresolved reference expression instead
of the facts their quoted spellings produce. Electron IPC and data-effect
readers already accepted these templates.
Read substitution-free templates in the shared static string and
argument readers so both spellings produce the same graph.

Foundation encodes `encode(_:forKey: "UID")` as a `$top` dictionary
whose single key is `UID`. The keyed archive projection treated every
one-key `UID`/`CF$UID` dictionary as a reference marker, so that root
became a malformed reference and the real link to its object was lost.
Treat a one-key dictionary as a UID only when its value is a number,
matching the binary decoder's UID shape and Foundation's XML `CF$UID`
rule; otherwise descend into it as an ordinary dictionary.

`swift-demangle` parsed a symbol beginning with `-` as an option, so
`-help` replaced the results with usage text and the call failed as
unreadable output. A symbol containing a line feed split into extra
output records, and the CRLF-tolerant parser stripped a carriage return
that belonged to the final symbol.
Pass the symbols after `--`, split records on the LF the demangler
emits, and reject multi-line symbols in the shared CLI/MCP input schema.

codesign echoes the executable path and signing identifier verbatim,
and an ad hoc identifier derives from the file name. A file name with
line breaks added forged Authority lines, a signed file named after
codesign's unsigned message was reported unsigned, and path text could
supply entitlements. Parse display fields after the exact echoed path
and identifier, classify unsigned output by exit status, and read
requirements and entitlements from stdout.

plutil's JSON spells an integral <real> such as 9007199254740992 like an
<integer>, so the JSON path labeled it an exact integer. When the JSON
holds an unsafe integral number, read element types from plutil's XML
conversion; numbers whose origin stays ambiguous are reported as decoded
with an explicit limitation.

OpenCode V2 reads native server entries from mcp.servers, and a native

Artifact path failures told callers to "inspect the reported path" but
reported none: `ArtifactReaderFailure` messages such as

`ArtifactOperationError`, leaving only `{ operation, reason: "path" }`.

The XML fallback inferred an integer from `Number.isInteger`, so an
integral `<real>` beyond 2^53 was misreported as an unknown integer.
Read the `<integer>` and `<real>` literals from plutil's XML text instead:
an unsafe integral number that matches one `<integer>` literal and no
`<real>` gets its exact decimal; a number that could be either stays as
decoded with a limitation.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A synthetic `""` label for an empty application-graph value could still
be matched by a literal `""` feature seed, which also matches the label of
a real two-quote value, so `trace_application_feature` combined
`fetch('')` with `fetch('""')`. Emit no label (`null`) for empty values;
the exact value stays in the identity and properties.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
`inspect_plist` parsed plutil JSON with `JSON.parse`, silently rounding
integers outside ±(2^53 - 1): `18446744073709551615` became
`18446744073709552000` with no limitation. Keep the exact decimal text
from the JSON source as `{ "$plist_type": "integer", "decimal": "..." }`
and add a limitation. On the XML fallback path, the decoder has already
rounded such values, so they become `decimal: null` instead of a wrong
number.
Also restore the `` escape in the BOM regex, which an earlier
rewrite had turned into a raw invisible character.

#839 displayed empty artifact-local keys and source-map original names as
`""` inside node identities, so `fetch("")` and `fetch('""')` (or
`sources: ["", "\"\""]`) produced the same node ID and merged two
distinct facts. Function nodes likewise exposed only a display label, so
`['']()` and `['""']()` were indistinguishable.
Admit the exact empty string in `artifact-local-key.key` and
`source-map-original.original_source`, keep the `""` substitution for
labels only, and record each function node's exact `name` in its
properties. Regenerate the catalog digests for the relaxed output schema.

`inspect_plist` converted every plist with `plutil -convert json`, which
rejects plists containing `<data>`, `<date>`, or non-finite `<real>`
values. Such valid plists (including Stocks.app's Info.plist) failed with
a cause-free `execution_failure`.
When the JSON conversion exits nonzero, decode `plutil -convert xml1`
instead. Data and dates use the `$plist_type` objects the keyed-archive
reader already emits; non-finite reals become an explicit unknown because
the XML decoder reports NaN and infinity alike. Provenance records both
conversions and limitations explain the representation. Plists that JSON
can express keep the unchanged single-conversion path.
The projection moves to `src/domain/plistValue.ts` and is shared with the
keyed-archive reader, which keeps rejecting non-finite reals.

A source map whose `sources` contains `""` (a legal relative reference,
emitted for virtual or generated modules) made the whole application
analysis fail: the empty name became the `source-map-original` identity's
`original_source`, which must be nonempty. Display it as `""` at the same
accumulator seam; the observation's `properties.source` keeps the exact
empty name.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A single legal empty literal such as `fetch('')`, `require('')`,
`bus.on('', f)`, `localStorage.getItem('')`, or `ipcMain.handle('', f)`
made the whole application analysis fail with `unreadable_output`: the
literal became an application-graph observation label, an artifact-local
identity key, or a semantic node label, all of which must be nonempty.
Normalize display at the two graph construction seams instead of at each
producer: `JavaScriptArtifactGraphAccumulator.addNode` and
`constructSemanticGraphNode` show the empty value as `""` via a shared
`javascriptDisplayText` helper. Observation and node properties keep the
exact empty value. This replaces the per-site `semanticNameLabel` calls.

Migrate the remaining `""`-sentinel consumers from #783 to the nullable
`semanticStaticPropertyKey`: CommonJS module origins
(`require("m")['']`), require destructuring (`const {'': a} =
require("m")`), and request body fields (`{ '': value }`). Dynamic keys
still produce no link or field. API selectors that compare against known
names are unchanged.

`process.env['']` now projects an exact empty environment key with
complete resolution instead of the same null/partial result as a dynamic
`process.env[key]`. `{ ['']() {} }` keeps its exact empty method name in
the IR instead of a generated `[computed@N]` name.
Semantic graph labels stay nonempty: a shared `semanticNameLabel` helper
displays the empty key as `""` for property slots, config sources, and
function nodes, while `properties.key` keeps the exact value.
