* Fix #1974: the caret and clicks land between the letters of a ligature

The glyph's advance is shared evenly among its letters (mirrored in
right-to-left text); ligature letters keep their character spacing.

* #1974: ligature tests use a bundled font that draws fi and ffi as ligatures

They assumed the installed default-font stand-in draws ligatures; Liberation Sans (Linux) draws
none, so they failed there.
